Hilton Industries

Hilton Industries

Twenty years inside financial services, building the planning, forecasting, reporting and analytics systems that businesses actually run on — where the numbers have to reconcile and “mostly working” was never an option. That same standard now goes into AI-integrated systems and automation. Everything on this page is my own work, running in production, on the stack I would build yours on.

Everything orbits one practice

The products fund the work. Everything else — trade training, family learning, the tools and the games — is free and built to the same standard, because the fastest way to show you how I build is to let you use it. Drag to look around, or pick a category.

About

Twenty years of systems people depend on

I am a software developer with more than twenty years in financial services — an industry where the reporting has to reconcile, a forecast has to survive a board meeting, and nothing is allowed to sit in a state of “mostly working”. I have built planning and forecasting platforms, management and regulatory reporting, and the analytics behind decisions with real money on them: complex systems where the problem genuinely demanded one, and deliberately simple ones where it did not.

Increasingly that work means AI-integrated systems and automation — putting models behind real business processes, wiring them into the data and workflow a firm already has, and automating the reporting and reconciliation that used to consume a team’s week. Not demos: systems with users, uptime and consequences.

Everything on this site is that work in the open. Fuel IQ, The Gauntlet, AccaIQ and RacingIQ are real products with real users and real infrastructure; the free training, tools and games are built to the same standard on the same stack. It is a portfolio you can actually log into, which beats a slide deck.

If you run a business that needs something built properly — not a prototype, not a template — that is the work.

Work with me

What I build for businesses

Twenty years of it in financial services, where the numbers are checked by people whose job is to find the error. The same standard, whatever the sector.

Planning & forecasting

Budgeting, forecasting and scenario models that a finance function runs its year on. Driver-based rather than a spreadsheet with a thousand tabs, versioned so last quarter’s numbers still exist, and fast enough that someone will actually re-run it when an assumption changes.

Reporting & analytics

Management and regulatory reporting that reconciles, on a schedule, without three people checking it by hand on the last day of the month. Dashboards where the number is traceable back to the row that produced it — because the first question anyone asks is where it came from.

AI integration & automation

Language models put behind real business processes rather than bolted on beside them: document and data extraction, drafting, classification, and the reconciliation work that quietly eats a team’s week. Wired into the systems and workflow you already have, with the output checkable.

Bespoke applications

The whole thing, end to end — data model, back end, interface, auth, deployment and the running of it. Complex where the problem earns it and deliberately simple where it does not, which is the harder call and usually the right one.

How it tends to go. A conversation about the actual problem, a short written view of what I would build and what it would take, then the build itself — in working increments you can see, not a six-month silence ending in a reveal. You own the code and the infrastructure throughout.

Worth a conversation if you have a process held together by spreadsheets and the person who understands it, reporting that costs days a month, or an AI idea that needs to survive contact with real data and real users. Probably not the right fit if you want a landing page or a template site — there are cheaper, faster people for that, and I would rather say so.
